Fire Extinguisher Training (PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility)
Focus on Safety’s Fire Extinguisher training course introduce you to the various types of portable fire fighting equipment commonly found in work environments.
This course includes both theory and hands on safe use of Fire Extinguishers, fire blankets and hose reels. Attendance of this course provides the opportunity to develop awareness and confidence when using fire equipment in the workplace.
As per AS 3745-
- Safe use and correct selection of fire extinguishers
- Fire Fighting Mediums
- Raising Alarms
- Safety Procedures when fire fighting
- Portable and fixed firefighting equipment.
- Fire Chemistry
This course includes the competency:
- PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in a facility (release 1 – current)
Course Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites to participate in this course.
FOS Entry Requirements:
- USI -Students are to provide their Unique Student Identifier.
- Fitness to participate (fitness levels will vary depending on the course)
- Enclosed footwear and suitable clothing
- LLN (language literacy and numeracy) – A basic level of reading, writing and the ability to articulate in English are required in order to complete the course work. For students with LLN issues they will be required to complete a LLN assessment and will be required to arrive 30mins prior to class to complete this. Students with a language barrier are required to provide a scribe for their training. If a student fails the LLN assessment they will be referred to external student support services for further assistance. Enrolment will not commence until the required LLN skills are achieved.

3 hrs - Time: 7.30am start
- Cost: $180.00 per person
- Course Venue: Focus On Safety Office or on Client’s premises
- Delivery Mode: Face to face in a classroom setting
- Certification: Successful participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment
- Microwaves & fridge are available for student use. Morning tea & Lunch are not provided.
Cancellation of Training
Focus On Safety Pty Ltd realise that cancellation or deferment of a course is sometimes unavoidable and therefore have established the following guidelines:
- Focus On Safety Pty Ltd registration/booking form binds the client to full payment on completion of the Training or Assessment
- No penalty applies if student is moved to another course date in the first instance. However if student is moved multiple times full course fees will apply
- Full fee if cancellation or movement request is received less than 2 business days before the commencement of the course.
