(UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel release 1 – current) (HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation release 1 – current) (UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker release 1 – current)
The Low Voltage Rescue CPR & Work near a LEA non-electrical work training course is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to execute a rescue operation involving a live low voltage electrical device. Additionally, it provides training on performing CPR on an unconscious individual, aligning with the guidelines set out by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). The course incorporates a theoretical understanding of CPR and practical exercises that emphasize the practical aspects of CPR.
Before proceeding to the Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) section of the course, successful completion of the CPR component is mandatory. This prerequisite ensures that participants have a solid grasp of CPR techniques before moving on to the more specialized aspects of low voltage rescue.
The LVR unit specifically addresses the procedures necessary for rescuing individuals from live low voltage apparatus, excluding overhead lines and underground cables. It is tailored to the requirements of various work functions, such as transmission, distribution, or rail work, with a focus on maintaining health, safety, and risk management processes at all operational levels. The course aims to instill a commitment to safety as an integral part of everyday work practices.
The Work near a LEA non-electrical work unit involves the skills and knowledge required to work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker. It includes compliance with safe approach distances for the worker, plant, tools and equipment. The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace. Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Prepare to work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus
- Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus
- Complete work and documentation
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Prepare to perform rescue procedures from live LV panel
- Carry out rescue from live LV panel
- Complete the LV panel rescue procedure
This course includes the competencies:
- UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.
- UETDRMP007 Perform Rescue from a live low voltage panel
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(Note: UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker & HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation are a pre-requisite to UETDRRF004 Provide rescue from a live low voltage panel)
